For many people, dinner is arguably the most important part of Christmas. It can even be the hardest part about get organised for Christmas. But enjoying your Christmas Dinner with your nearest and dearest is one of the moments we all cherish about Christmas. It sits alongside spending quality time with your family by taking long walks in the country, drinking mulled wine by the fire and playing board games and watching those Christmas movie classics like 1947’s Miracle On 34th Street or 1946’s It’s a Wonderful Life. With Christmas Dinner being the most special meal of the year, getting it ‘just so’ is very important. But that doesn’t just mean that the cooking needs to be your best work of the year, your dining room also needs to look its best. That’s why we have put together some helpful tips on how you can dress your dining room to impress for Christmas 2020.

Take the outside inside

The key home furnishings trends for 2021 all revolve around the central theme for the year of taking inspiration from nature. This means that 2021 will be like 2020 all about bringing the outside inside. So, when you are decorating your dining room for Christmas this year, make a nod towards 2021’s top interior decorating theme by highlighting nature’s beauteous bounty.

Foraging for foliage should be at the top of everyone’s Christmas Prep To Do List this December. It should sit alongside wrapping your presents in eco-friendly wrapping, buying sustainably sourced presents, making your own Christmas cards or donating the money you would usually spend on Christmas cards to a good cause and ordering your organic Bourbon Red breed turkey. However, if you are self-isolating or simply can’t get out and about to do some festive foliage foraging in the next couple of weeks, then buying artificial flowers and foliage is a great way to add some greenery to your Christmas decorations and dining room generally.

Faux flowers and plants from our collection

Artificial flowers and foliage are a fantastic investment in terms of your interior design choices because they never fade. Having flowers and foliage in your dining room all year round will make the room a perennially cheerfully and pleasant space in which to relax. Our range of artificial flowers and foliage can be easily adjusted to suit a festive dining table arrangement by mixing the artificial stems with some of your festive foliage finds. Combining holly, ivy, poinsettias and red berries with our artificial marsh fern stems in a vase will create a spectacular visual arrangement that can be used on your dining table or on an occasional table anywhere in your home.

The wintry Morning Mist Berry stems will create a very frosty yet elegant display in any hallway on a console table or as a rustic centrepiece in a concrete jar as pictured. This is a very contemporary take on a winter floral arrangement.

Our Eucalyptus Trailing artificial foliage looks exceptionally natural and works well in a jar. It will also look spectacular arranged on a mantlepiece with candles to create a very calm and inviting focal point for your room. These can all be bought in our store in Montpellier, Cheltenham. Dressing your Dining Table Invest in some fabulous charging plates on which to create a festive base for the rest of your Christmas tableware if you have it. The brilliance of charging plates is that it will make any dinner service look festive, so if you do not have the space for a set of Christmas plates and bowls, this is a space-friendly way to create the illusion that you do. You can use them around the rest of your home the rest of the year for candle arrangements. Metallics are particular effective on a dining table as they “help to pick up light, reflecting a warming ambience around the surrounding table, so simple, yet so effective”.
