A Lighting Symphony for a Restored Tudor-Inspired Farmhouse

We recently completed a stunning project in Hertfordshire, providing bespoke lighting for a meticulously restored farmhouse that loosely draws from the Tudor wooden frame architecture typical of the region. The home features beautifully restored wooden beams throughout, serving as a perfect canvas for our lighting designs. Our role was to illuminate the property from top to bottom, blending historical charm with modern elegance. Each room offered a unique opportunity to showcase lighting as both a functional and artistic element.

Harmonizing History and Elegance

In this historic home, we mixed styles to enhance its character. In the guest bathrooms, we installed replicas of vintage gas lamps, invoking a sense of nostalgia. Meanwhile, a timeless Montpellier Bag Chandelier adorned another bathroom, adding an understated elegance. Above the dressing room island, a custom arrangement of five delicate Regent bag chandeliers created a whimsical yet sophisticated focal point, emphasizing the room's airy charm.

Statement Pieces That Impress

The grand hallway and dining room were the crowning jewels of this project. In the hallway, we designed and installed a breathtaking bespoke lighting arrangement called "Feather in the Wind." This piece featured over 100 individually hand-blown, clear and gold-gilded glass feathers arranged in a spiral. Each feather is unique, making the light fixture a true work of art. Complementing this masterpiece was our Fitzroy Pendant in the entrance porch, setting a grand and inviting tone for all who enter. In the dining room, we realized the owner's vision by crafting "floating candelabras"—an innovative lighting arrangement that combines traditional aesthetics with a modern twist.

Timeless Exterior Elegance

For the exterior, we chose the Battledown Lantern range in Antique Brass. This period-inspired design complements the historic character of the farmhouse beautifully, providing a warm, inviting glow that highlights the property’s architectural details. In the kitchen, part of a new extension designed by Tom Hawley Kitchens, we opted for elegant blue and clear glass pendants. These pieces bring a contemporary touch while seamlessly blending with the traditional elements of the home. From rustic charm to modern sophistication, this project demonstrates the transformative power of thoughtfully designed lighting.
