We all want to welcome our guests into an elegant and statement hallway with a resplendent and grand staircase but not everyone is lucky enough to have a hallway like the Von Trapps’.

But that doesn’t mean that there is nothing that you can do to make your hallway a grander, more welcoming, and impressive space. And there’s a good reason why you should splash out on decorating and dressing your hallway. They are the most frequently used spaces in the home, and what better way to create an incredible first impression and a welcoming entryway than by adding a bespoke luxury chandelier?

A chandelier in a staircase works like a stunning piece of jewelry on an outfit, it completes the overall appearance making it elegant and refined. However, as with jewelry, getting the size right can be a bit tricky.

The clearance between the floor and the bottom of the chandelier should be at least 2.1 meters.

The width of the chandelier will depend on the width of the hallway or a stairwell. A rule of 1/3 of the width is a useful indication.

The height will depend on the design and should be in proportion to the rest of the fixture.

That might sound a bit complicated, but we are always happy to give you advice and organise a site visit so that you have complete peace of mind regarding your purchase.

And in terms of the aesthetics of your chandelier, when buying one for a hallway it is important that the design looks equally attractive from both an ascending and descending perspective. A perfect example of this is our Douro Crystal Chandelier. It is as pleasing to look at it from the top of the stairs as it is from the bottom. The height of Regency Crystal Chanelier Douro can be fully customized and thus it can be designed to be visible from different floors.

The same can be said about our Lansdown Basket Chandelier (Empire Basket Chandelier). We have successfully designed and installed variations of this design in a wide range of homes and spaces making sure they always fit the space perfectly.

In asymmetrical spaces, Henley Cluster Chandelier works beautifully. It is installed on a round plate and the number of the chandelier pieces can be customized meaning there is one to suit any height of the room.

For a hallway with a standard ceiling height, Bath Crystal Chandelier or Clarence Round Chandelier might be an option. Both can be customised in regards to height.

Whether you have a period home or a modern home, getting the correct size and shape of chandelier for the style of your home and for the proportions of your hallway makes a radical impact on visitors’ first impression of your home.
